Who are my Ancestors?

In my family tree there are many branches; some stem from my maternal line and others from my paternal line.

My Paternal line include the Allery tribe and my Maternal links include the Cutting line.

As I was growing up I new very little of my grandparents as we had already emigrated to Australia after World War 2 and I, as a very young child of 4, had only a few scattered memories of one or two. I do remember my red-haired Grandma Harriet as she warned me of not damaging the rose bushes in her pretty garden in Hook Lane. She seemed quite scary to me at the time. My Grandpa Walter had long since passed and Harriet had never remarried, I did not have a Grandpa to relate to in my Dad's clan.

I have heard stories of Grandma Mary Jane and large tribe, twins and triplets included, and her way of parenting through the teachings of my own mother, Winnie. The women in my Maternal line are strong characters with traits and skills that have been passed down to me. It is in this line that I can trace my Welsh roots and weave stories of life in Pembrokeshire in the 1800's.

Through my years of research I have grown the family tree and have uncovered many intriguing facts and stories. These I will share with you here - a brand new blog and a brand new set of stories.

The Cutting Line

The Allery Tribe

A plethora of characters in my family tree to research and write up their stories to preserve our family history. What are their legacies for me? How have they helped shape the person I have become? Why am I so interested in 'digging up the past'?

Come with me as I share my family stories with you in 'Blogging in the Past Lane'.
